What do you think of when you hear about Kindermusik? That it is a music class for children, right? We just had our first class this morning and it is so much more than that. Of course there is music and singing, but so much learning and connecting is weaved into it in ways that I would never have thought to do.
The children and parents were welcomed warmly into class by Miss Julie with drums and shakers on the floor to explore. This created an environment where the children felt comfortable right away. This was the first class for many of us and a few of the children came in clinging to their moms. By the end of class these children were more relaxed. This was the case with one of my twins. My daughter followed Miss Julie all around while my son stayed close to me. It was really neat for me to see how they responded in a class setting like this.
I just talked to another mother of twins this week and she expressed something that many twin moms feel. Moms of twins are often hesitant to go out because you are always outnumbered and it can difficult in a class setting. However, I was able to nurture both twins to fit their needs in this class. My daughter was more confident and outgoing. She thrived just jumping right into class. Her eyes were filled with excitement at every new thing we did. Meanwhile, my shy guy enjoyed participating from my lap (and so did I). It was a joy to make music with my twins in a class that was nurturing and fun. I can’t wait to see how they develop and learn each week at class.
