The safety of our beloved Kindermusik families and amazing teachers is our biggest priority. As a team, we collaborate regularly to address new ideas and or any concerns related to both the physical and emotional safety in our classrooms.
Physical Safety – Your Experience Matters To Us.
We often have questions about how we are working to keep instruments and props safe and clean. I want to reassure you of the precautionary and thoughtful measures we are taking to protect your health and well-being when it comes to protecting our little ones from germs.
While specific protocols of cleanliness have always been a stringent standard for our studio, we want to reassure you that our disinfection routines have been heightened to ensure we continue to maintain the safest environment for the families we serve. In addition, we are increasing the frequency of our cleaning efforts at each studio.
A healthy classroom is created best when we work in partnership with every enrolled family. We sincerely thank you for joining us in our strongest efforts to keep our families and teachers healthy. We are continuing these policies already in place:
- requiring anyone (including teachers) that has had a fever of 100.4 or higher or have flu-like symptoms to stay home
- asking everyone to wash their hands before and after class when possible
- making hand sanitizer available
- sanitizing all materials and high-touch surfaces after each class with CDC-approved disinfectants.
- laundering items after each use, such as scarves.
- requiring that our piano keys be cleaned after each student.
You will find some new policies on physical safety related to Kindermusik classes:
- asking parents and children to bring socks for class instead of going barefoot
- temporarily discontinuing the use of materials that can’t be quickly sanitized, such as story blankets and chime balls, etc.
- storing materials in easier to clean containers
- utilizing visual aids in class rather than handing out puppets
With these measures in place – especially sanitizing, washing hands, and not coming to class when ill – we can minimize the spread of germs significantly.
It is our joy to partner with you! We’ll provide tips for musical parenting that lighten your load. Stay tuned for a delightful “hand washing” song! It will have your kids singing and looking forward to this habit more than ever before.
The Kindermusik experience makes great parenting easier! That’s what we do – and we will continue to do so with some fun and much-needed humor along the way.
Emotional Safety – Your Well-being Matters to Us.
At Kathy’s Music, our classrooms are your safe space. We are committed to providing a culture that is inclusive and supportive for all. Every day when you walk through our doors, we want you to know there is a positive community with a space reserved just for you.
Not only are we committed to creating a place where you feel included, but also where your child feels noticed and nurtured. Every child matters to us. Every single one. Our Kindermusik teachers are eager to meet each child where they are and nurture their growth and learning along the way. We train for this, we practice for this, and we each commit to this promise when we enter the classroom.
We practice emotional safety for our Kindermusik kids in a variety of ways. Here are just a few with links where you can learn more:
- Intentional use of a child’s name – read more about the importance of learning names
- Invite participation in a variety of ways – see our article on what engagement looks like
- Take time to connect with each child by listening to their words or reading their body language
- Scaffolding – observing (everyone loves to be noticed), copying to affirm their choice, and varying with a challenge. Learn more here>>
The next time your child asks, “Is today a Kindermusk day?,” know that you can look forward to those magical, musical moments that bring joy to your day not only because your child loves Kindermusik, but also because we’ve created a healthy and happy classroom with very intentional practices.
We’ll see you next time!
We can’t wait!
