Thanks for stopping by! Allow me to tell you a bit about myself.
I teach music because I’ve experienced its power first-hand, and I believe in it.
It all started when my oldest daughter was a toddler, and I learned about Kindermusik on the evening news. We enrolled, and within a few short months, we noticed a marked difference in her joy in singing, interaction with other children and her comfort level around adults. She continued through the entire 7-year program developing a life-long love of music that continues 25+ years later.
I started to think about how I could share this powerful program with other children. After my second daughter came along, the time was right to take the plunge. I became a Kindermusik teacher in the fall of 1999. When I came to Pittsburgh in 2004, I brought Kindermusik with me. That fall, I taught only 12 students. Within a year, enrollment grew to 120. Kathy’s Music continued to grow, beginning with the Mt. Lebanon studio in 2005, and expanding to McMurray, Squirrel Hill and Robinson over the next two years.
Soon I realized that I wanted to bring the power and joy of musical learning to people in all stages of life. We added piano lessons in 2009, and grew that offering to instrument lessons in 2011.
Today we reach over 1,000 students program-wide through a wide variety of Kindermusik Classes, Group Lessons, and Private Lessons, including unique summer camps. My desire is that music would impact each of these students as much as it has for both of my daughters – and myself – over the years!
