Josie Kost fell in love with music at a young age and started her music education with piano lessons at the age of eight. She began studying the flute at age 10 and knew from that moment that she wanted to share music with others for a lifetime. She holds degrees in flute performance from Wheaton College and Duquesne University and has performed with many orchestras in the greater Pittsburgh region. She is currently principal flute of the Greenville Symphony Orchestra of Mercer County.
Josie has a multi-faceted teaching career. She has taught students of all ages and is a certified Suzuki flute and piano instructor. Josie is a licensed Kindermusik instructor and is excited to resume teaching Kindermusik classes after taking a break to stay home with her children. She has experience teaching in many settings, including collegiate flute choir and most recently preschool classes. Josie loves sharing her love and knowledge of music with children and families and has experienced the power of Kindermusik firsthand with her own family.
Josie lives in the South Hills of Pittsburgh with her husband and three children. In her free time, she enjoys allergy friendly baking, hiking, and exploring local coffee shops.
