Playing music has been a passion for Monica Nash from a young age. She started taking piano lessons at age 5 and began learning the flute in fourth grade. Monica is a graduate of Mt. Lebanon High school, where she played in the orchestra, concert band, and marching band.
After high school, Monica went to Seton Hill University for music where she studied flute, piccolo, and piano. Monica graduated with a BA in Music in 2006. While at Seton Hill, she also took many different education classes. Monica is a strong believer that music education helps children become more well rounded students and enhances their learning.
Monica has been a member of the Westmoreland Symphonic winds and has played in many different woodwind ensembles throughout college. She has studied under many different flute teachers including Rosalind Stack, Wendy Kumer, and Dilshad Posnok. In college, she had many musical mentors including Kathleen Campbell, Ted Disanti, Edgar Highberger, and Marvin Huls. Now, Monica regularly plays flute at her church during mass or other church events. Monica is a big believer that any day is better when you have music!
Outside of Music, Monica enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. She likes to bake and has worked as a cake decorator in the past. Monica is also a preschool teacher and tries to incorporate music as much as possible in student learning. She loves working with children and watching them grow!
