It’s Jazzy Kitchen Camp Day 3, where we’re making 2 different chocolate pudding desserts:  Chocolate Pudding Parfait and Dirt Dessert.  Here are a few highlights:

We started off creating menus for our “Restaurants”.  Parents, please note the drawings of the food and the prices.  Very cute!  (cognitive, fine motor, artistic expression)
During music time, we explored rhythms from a new nursery rhyme from England.  (multicultural, rhythmic competency)
Reviewed the eighth note rhythms in our chant about Pizza. (music reading)
The children learned about quarter notes using the rhythm “cho-co-late (rest).”  We created an ensemble pairing both eighth notes and quarter note rhythms using sandblocks and 3-bell jingles. (steady beat, rhythmic competency, ensemble development)
We introduced the children to a marionette puppet and a new French children’s song.  For more examples of marionettes, consider watching the scene from The Sound of Music where the children put on a puppet show. (multicultural)
The children learned a french lullaby and then created an ensemble using boomwackers where the children partnered to play their part. (Socialization, Ensemble, Inhibitory Control)
Because of the focus on French music and foods, this is a great time to watch the Disney movie, “Ratatouille,” a movie set in Paris all about chefs and restaurants.
The children mixed up chocolate pudding in teams of three, adding milk, stirring, washing dishes, and spooning into serving cups.  Once the pudding set up we prepared our Chocolate parfaits with mini-vanilla wafers and whipped topping.  Then we enjoyed our chocolate snack!

Each child mixed in gummy worms into their chocolate pudding.  Then individually created cookie crumbs using oreo cookie wafers.  After adding the cookie crumbs as a topping, a flower was added to the dirt!  (attention skills, active listening)
We’re looking forward to celebrating summer in the U.S.A. tomorrow during our last day of camp.
