GROUP MUSICIANSHIP CLASSES

These dynamic and interactive group classes are open to private and group lesson students only as part of your enrollment package. These unique offerings enhance the lesson experience while also providing students an opportunity to schedule in-person instruction for any missed lessons.

Students will connect with other students, advance in their musicianship,
gain valuable informal performance experience, and take big steps toward
becoming well-rounded musicians.

EVENT FAQs

1) Open the Kathy’s Music App and click on “My Account.”
2) Login to your account using the email address you provided at enrollment
3) Press “Find Classes” and then scroll down to see a blue box with “Add a Filter.”
4) Add a filter of session and choose “Group Musicianship Classes 2023-2024.”
5) Browse the list of classes. Press “View Details & Enroll” when you find
the one you want.

Our “Music Theory Essentials” offerings are the cornerstone of our Group Musicianship Classes and the ideal class for students looking to receive in-person instruction for a missed lesson. In “Music Theory Essentials” students have the opportunity to hone their ear training, strengthen their note and rhythm reading, and build their musical vocabulary in engaging ways.

Laura Roberts leads these special classes at three times during the year in both our McMurray and Mt. Lebanon location:

Performance Mindfulness with Lydia Kilian

Friday, October 20th at 6:30pm in McMurray

Learn various breathing and visualization techniques as well as basic stretches that you can use to create a sense of calm for recital and other performances.

Music Technology & Sound Engineering with Zach Thal

Friday, November 17th at 6:30pm in Mt. Lebanon

Explore various processes, programs, and equipment involved in Sound Engineering. This class is for ages 8 and up.

Musical Theatre with Laura Mason

Friday, January 12th at 6:30pm in McMurray

This Musical Theatre class will have students singing and moving as they learn a song with choreography and play various theatre games.

Emoting in Music with Jillian McCord

Friday, March 22nd at 6:30pm in McMurray

Explore ways to infuse your singing with self expression and emotion, taking music beyond the written page.

Mock Auditions with Christin Cooper and Laura Mason

Friday, April 19th at 6:30pm in Mt. Lebanon

Learn how to best navigate audition experiences in this Mock Audition class available for currently enrolled high school students only.

Meet the Harpsichord with James Johnston

May 30th, at 6:00pm in Mt. Lebanon

Join James Johnston as he demonstrates his electronic harpsichord and shares more about what makes this instrument special.
