Learn how to use technology to make music, compose music, and master musical skills. We are featuring four sessions led by members of our amazing Music Artistry team. Each session will give you a taste of what’s possible when you use the latest tools and technology. Two sessions are designed just for ages 10-15, while two others are appropriate for ages 7 and up. 2:00 pm Create Your Music Your Way with Finale Notepad (ages 10-15) with John Caughman

You will feel empowered as you learn your way around Finale Notepad, a free music notation software. Discover different functions through direction and in-person practice. Students are asked to bring a laptop if available. Don’t worry  – we’ll have a few set up for students to share as well!

 

2:45 pm Create Your Jam Using Loops & Looping (ages 10-15) with Juli Wright

Your creativity will flow as you learn about constructing and combining loops all while creating and layering loops as a class – in class. Bring your ideas and your voice, and we’ll make sure to share a recording of the class’s creation with you after the session!

 

3:30 pm Music Theory Made Easy (all ages) with Laura Mason

Your confidence will soar as you discover new ways to strengthen your understanding of music theory using different tools found on theory websites. Speed up note identification, recognize chords with ease, and more. Just bring yourself! We will work with one computer and projector as we play games to learn about what these websites have to offer!

 

4:15 pm Performing with Ease (all ages) with Ben Meyer

You will learn how to own the stage as you practice navigating different parts of the performance experience – remembering performance is playing and a fun way to express yourself. Students are asked to bring their instrument, so that their participation can be as personal as possible. We’ll make sure to have a piano available. Don’t worry – you can still develop your performance technique even if you can’t bring your instrument!
