Each year we challenge our lesson students to commit to at least 100 days of practice during the school year.

The Challenge.

We know that skill mastery comes from intentional practice that happens consistently during the week and continues over time. With that in mind, the challenge is to practice 25 days during each 8 week sprint. Our first 8-week sprint starts September 16th and runs through November 9th.  See your student’s Practice Planner for more details as each 8 week sprint is noted in the book.

Tips for Success.

  • Set a goal for the # of days to practice during the 8 weeks (minimum of 25 require).
  • Design a practice schedule for the week that includes the 3-4 days a week for 20-40-60 minutes depending on the level of the student.
  • Track your practice in your binder. Make notes of practice routines or rituals that helped work through tricky measures or new rhythms or even with memorization. You get the idea!
  • Set a new goal every 8 weeks in order to get all 25 days in each time.

We’re looking forward to a great year of progress!
