Meet Christin Cooper

Christin Cooper is a multi-faceted musician with a background in music education, piano performance, and choral conducting. As a dedicated young pianist, she traveled to China and Tibet at the age of 17 to perform solo and chamber music concerts with a group of her peers from the Pennsylvania Academy of Music. She has sung with the Canticum Novum Singers in New York, performed as a collaborative pianist at the Source Song Festival in Minneapolis, and studied as a Conducting Scholar of the Delaware Choral Academy in the South of France. This unique skill set has made her a sought-after choral accompanist in the Pittsburgh region, frequently collaborating with both the Duquesne University and Mt. Lebanon School District choral programs. As a performer, Christin is dedicated to presenting works by living and underrepresented composers. Together with James Iman, her piano duo (co) ordinal seeks to present diverse, engaging programs of modern piano literature to audiences in Pittsburgh and beyond.

Profoundly shaped by her own musical mentors, Christin considers it a privilege to walk side by side with her students on their own musical journeys. As an educator, she cherishes the opportunity to teach future generations of pianists through her studio at Kathy’s Music, and she is continually fascinated by the processes of learning and music-making that occur during the earliest years of childhood. Christin holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Bucknell University and a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Delaware. She has also completed Level 2 Kodaly Certification and is a licensed Kindermusik educator.
