It’s true. Our Kindermusik classes include music and movement activities intentionally designed to help children develop social, early literacy, and language skills and practice a wide variety of abilities such as gross and fine motor skills, turn taking, musicality, self-control, and more. (And, we have the research to back it all up.) But, perhaps you are wondering if your child is really “catching on” or “getting it.”

Well, in our experience, after 8-10 weeks of learning the rituals/routines/music of class, children may start showing certain signs to indicate that, yes, they do “get it.”   Take a look and see if you recognize your own child in any of these!

Your child might be turning into a Kindermusik Kid if your child:

  • Makes up songs for every activity: eating breakfast, taking a bath, getting dressed, and yes, even using the potty
  • Knows all the words to the songs from class
  • Turns every scarf into a bird, falling leaves, raindrops, or a campfire
  • Happily shares instruments with children in class
  • Yells “aaaannnnddd stop” with the sign while playing at home
  • Prefers to dance (or stomp, tiptoe, or scurry) from room to room rather than walk
  • Loves to rock a stuffed animal while humming a quiet song from class
  • Recognizes all the instruments heard in a song at random
  • Takes the best nap ever on Kindermusik days
  • Pretends to be a Kindermusik teacher at home with siblings, stuffed animals, the family pet, or you
  • Wants to save every cereal box and coffee can to turn into homemade instruments
  • Requests to read the same story from class each night before bed
  • Quickly responds to the “instruments away” song in class AND “toys away” at home
  • Sits on another parent’s lap during an activity
  • Sings the “Hello” song or “Good-Bye” song in social settings outside of class
  • Asks the same question each morning: Is today a Kindermusik day?

I’d be interested to learn from you.
What are you seeing at home that tells you your child is a Kindermusik kid?
